Minchinhampton longstone, Gloucestershire
National grid reference: SO 854017
A naturally holed stone of the local Pudding stone conglomerate or oolite about 2.8m high sited by the Barrow of Gatcombe. One of the holes was said to heal sick children who were passed through it, they must have been very small children as the holes are very narrow. Other legends include it defying all attempts to move it and a tendency of a phantom black dog to appear in the vicinity. The only black thing to be seen there is the lone policeman patrolling Gatcombe Park.
