St Ishmaels,
Pembrokeshire
National grid reference: SM 812239
The Mabesgate longstone is a 3.1m high local, laminated red sandstone slice aligned E-W. There are three stones in the locality all called Longstone,
Hubberston and St Ishmaels the others. The quality of the stone means that there has been considerable erosion and all the stones made of this are almost wafer thin and in danger of crumbling away altogether. Perhaps this is why so few maenhirs survive in this region.
